ABB 07DC91, order number GJR5251400R0202, is a remote digital I/O module for the Advant Controller 31 CS31 system bus. The module combines 16 fixed 24 V DC inputs, eight fixed transistor outputs and eight channels that can be used as inputs, outputs or re-readable outputs. This arrangement lets an integrator adapt the field-point mix without selecting a different physical module, but the address allocation and PLC program must match the intended use of the configurable channels.
The transistor outputs are rated at 500 mA per channel at 24 V and have short-circuit and overload protection with automatic reactivation. ABB specifies a typical input delay of 7 ms and a typical input current of 7 mA at 24 V. Fixed and configurable inputs have different permitted low-signal voltage ranges, so they should not be treated as electrically identical for negative excursions. The CS31 interface is isolated from the supply and I/O circuits, while the field inputs and outputs share the module M reference. Load design must respect the individual-channel, group, total-current and supply-terminal limits together.
Maintenance planning should retain the DIL-switch address, bus-master type and exact program use of each configurable point. The Test button supports channel diagnostics and displays the initialized address setting, which is useful when comparing a removed unit with a replacement. The 120 × 140 × 85 mm housing is installed vertically with terminals facing up and down; allow additional DIN-rail depth and unobstructed convection. MRO receiving records should identify the full GJR5251400R0202 order number and verify the removable connector set, rather than accepting only a photograph of the front panel.

Preserve the 07DC91 bus address, DIL switch 1 mode and program assignments for the eight configurable channels.
The 07DC91 diagnostic message is grouped in blocks of four outputs. A short on channel 0, 1, 2 or 3 is reported for that group, and the PLC message identifies its first channel. Test the associated field circuits to locate the failed load; do not conclude that all four output stages have failed.
ABB states that a configurable channel used as an input must not be assigned a 1 signal. The module stores no configuration data for these channels; their use follows the user program. Review all writes to the relevant output address before commissioning it as an input or re-readable output.
With the documented 07KR91/07KT9x bus masters, switch 1 ON fixes the arrangement at 16 inputs and 16 outputs and uses one group number. OFF permits individual use of the eight configurable points and occupies two group numbers. Check adjacent allocations before changing this mode; address switches 2–7 select the group number.
Their direct connection to the output circuit also connects the demagnetizing varistor. ABB lists −6 to +5 V for the configurable-input zero state, versus −30 to +5 V on fixed inputs. The varistor clamp and actual UPx supply must be considered when evaluating negative transients; the fixed-input limit must not be copied to a configurable channel.
No automatic clearing should be assumed. The output attempts reactivation after a short circuit or overload, while the diagnostic indication is retained for interrogation. After the fault is corrected, acknowledgement can be performed through the Test button for about five seconds, the PLC program or the PC, as described by ABB.
No. ABB separates the limits by load type: inductive loads are limited to 0.5 Hz, while lamps are specified at up to 11 Hz and 5 W. A solenoid is an inductive load; its switching duty and stored energy require the corresponding load review.
The manual’s scope of delivery lists one five-pin connector and one three-pin connector at 5.08 mm pitch, plus four nine-pin connectors at 3.81 mm pitch. Check this set against the purchase scope and installed wiring before accepting a bare module as a complete replacement.
During Test-button interrogation, step through the channels to the final LED test. The next display shows the address-switch setting read during initialization for about three seconds; LEDs 0–7 correspond to switches 1–8. This distinguishes the initialized setting from a switch moved while the module was already operating.
