The Bently Nevada 144181-50 is a 3300 XL 5mm/8mm proximitor sensor. It provides a high-frequency oscillation drive power supply for field eddy current probes and converts the weak electrical stress changes generated by the probes due to electromagnetic induction into a standard proportional negative voltage signal that can be transmitted over long distances. This signal is directly supplied to the vibration monitor of the 3500 system (such as the 3500/42M) for digital processing.

Working Principle
High-Frequency Magnetic Field Establishment: The preamplifier delivers a high-frequency current to the 8mm or 5mm probe tip via a high-frequency cable, generating a high-frequency alternating magnetic field at the probe tip.
Eddy Current Induction: When a metal conductor such as a shaft approaches the probe, eddy currents are generated on the surface, absorbing magnetic field energy.
Negative Voltage Output: The preamplifier sensitively captures this energy loss and outputs a DC + AC negative voltage signal proportional to the gap between the probe and the measured metal surface, achieving non-contact, precise gap, displacement, and high-frequency dynamic vibration monitoring.
Overall Length Matching
Eddy current measurement involves high-frequency analog conditioning. The preamplifier's internal bridge is extremely sensitive to cable capacitance. The 144181-50 cable must never be connected to a 9-meter cable. If the field extension cable is damaged and needs replacement, a 5-meter extension cable must be purchased.

A: The 144181-50 module itself meets IP67 insulation protection rating, but for improved service life and better resistance to strong electromagnetic interference, it is strongly recommended to install the proximitor in the original Proximitor protection enclosure (Proximitor Limpet / Environmental Enclosure).
Q: Will it be damaged if the positive and negative terminals are reversed?
A: The 144181-50 includes internal reverse polarity protection. If wiring is reversed, the circuit will automatically protect itself without causing physical damage.
