Technical Specifications

The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System provides an output voltage that is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface and can measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) values. The system’s primary applications are vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines, as well as Keyphasor reference and speed measurements. The 3300 XL 8 mm system delivers the most advanced performance in our eddy current proximity transducer systems.

Explosion-Proof Area Safety Matching

Because this probe has an intrinsically safe explosion-proof certification of -02, if it is installed in a flammable and explosive hazardous area such as a chemical plant, oil refinery, or natural gas transmission unit, a standard -00 (uncertified) probe must never be used as a replacement. Doing so will invalidate the explosion-proof compliance and create safety hazards.

System Length Matching

For a 5-meter preamplifier, a 4.5-meter 3300 XL extension cable is required.

For a 9-meter preamplifier, an 8.5-meter 3300 XL extension cable is required.

Mixing lengths will cause a serious deviation in the system's measurement sensitivity (deviating from the specified value of 200 mV/mil).

Q: Are there any special wiring requirements when installing 330101-00-20-05-02-02 in hazardous areas?

A: Yes. When used in hazardous locations such as Zone 2 or Class I, Div 2, the Proximitor end must be connected through safety barriers or circuits compliant with intrinsically safe/non-incendive standards to limit energy and prevent ignition of hazardous gases.

Q: Does the -02 certified version of 330101-00-20-05-02-02 have different temperature or electrical performance?

A: No. The sensitivity remains 7.87 mV/μm (200 mV/mil), and the probe coil temperature range remains -52 °C to +177 °C. The difference is the added hazardous-area certification marking.

Q: How should the extension cable be selected for the 0.5 m probe 330101-00-20-05-02-02?

A: For a 5 m system, use a 4.5 m extension cable. For a 9 m system, use an 8.5 m extension cable.
