The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System provides an output voltage that is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface and can measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) values. The system’s primary applications are vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines, as well as Keyphasor reference and speed measurements. 1. Check the Preamplifier OK Light: If the OK light on the 3500 monitoring system or preamplifier is off, it indicates a complete open or short circuit. Measure the DC voltage from OUT to COM on the preamplifier.

2. Check the DC Gap Voltage:

If the voltage is 0V to -1V: This is usually due to excessive lubricating oil soaking into the ClickLoc connector inside the machine, or metal shavings stuck in the connector causing a short circuit.

If the voltage is -22V to -26V (full scale): This is usually due to severe internal machine vibration, causing the ClickLoc connector between the extension cable and the 1.0-meter probe to become loose and open, or the probe wire being severed by internal mechanical parts.

Mechanical Interference from Reverse-Mounted Probe

Symptom: The DC gap voltage output from the preamplifier becomes extremely low (e.g., drops directly to -2V to -4V), and no matter how far you pull the probe back, the voltage cannot return to the normal midpoint of -10V.

Solution: Check the thread selection. If the probe you purchased has a 0.5-inch unthreaded design, you must ensure that the countersunk hole depth and diameter at the front end of the sleeve conform to Bentley's official specifications (the minimum diameter is typically required to be greater than 2 times the probe diameter, i.e., greater than 16mm).
