Technical Specifications

The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System provides an output voltage that is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface and can measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) values. The system’s primary applications are vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines, as well as Keyphasor reference and speed measurements. 

Main Field Applications

Radial Vibration: Measures the dynamic vibration of the shaft within the bearing (recommended initial installation gap voltage is approximately -9 Vdc, i.e., about 1.27 mm).

Thrust/Axial Position: Monitors axial movement to prevent malicious collisions and tripping between the rotor and stator.

Keyphasor/Speed Signal: Aligns with the keyway or protrusion on the shaft to output high-frequency pulses for phase calculation and speed measurement.

Field Installation and Maintenance Precautions

Coaxial Connector Must Be Insulated: When connecting the cable included with the eddy current probe to the extension cable, the gold-plated coaxial connector (ClickLoc) in the middle must have extremely high insulation and must never touch the metal casing of the unit or the field cable tray (contact will cause a large-area ground short circuit). After field connection, the connector must be covered with Bentley's original transparent insulating heat shrink tubing or insulating tape.

Cable bending radius limit: Coaxial cables and extension cables leading from the preamplifier are relatively stiff. When handling cables and running them through conduits, their minimum bending radius must not be less than 25.4 mm (1 inch). Excessive bending and sharp bends will directly damage the internal coaxial shielding layer and the physical spacing of the core wires, change the capacitance and inductance characteristics, and cause false vibration spikes in the channel.
