1203-GD1 is a remote I/O communications module that connects a compatible drive product through a SCANport interface to a remote I/O network.
The module combines an 8-pin mini-DIN SCANport connection, a 3-pin remote I/O connector, configurable rack size and selectable 57.6, 115.2 or 230.4 kbaud communication.
Installation requires the 85–264 V AC supply, rack addressing, baud rate, termination and SCANport cable to match the installed architecture.

1203-GD1 functions as a Remote I/O communications module between a compatible SCANport drive product and a Remote I/O network, so both the drive interface and network architecture must match.
1203-GD1 supports 57.6, 115.2, or 230.4 kbaud and quarter, half, three-quarter, or full-rack operation; the selected values must agree with the scanner configuration.
1203-GD1 is not a general-purpose serial converter; the SCANport connection serves supported drive equipment, while the three-pin connection and rack settings belong to the Remote I/O installation.
1203-GD1 requires an 85–264 V AC single-phase supply at 45–63 Hz, with 35 mA maximum input current, and the installation must also accommodate its 60 mA SCANport load.
1203-GD1 requires verification of rack address, baud rate, termination, grounding, DIN-rail space, SCANport cable, and the operating range of 0 to 50 °C.
1203-GD1 cannot be selected by housing appearance alone because network protocol, connector use, addressing, power, and supported drive interfaces differ among 1203 communication products.
1203-GD1 should be quoted with the complete catalog number, quantity, drive model, scanner or rack configuration, network rate, supply voltage, and clear photos of the module and drive nameplates.
