On-site Installation and Calibration Points (Gap Adjustment)
Material Calibration: The 5300-08 standard probe is typically factory calibrated for 4140 steel. If your turbine or blower shaft is made of stainless steel or other special alloys, the sensitivity coefficient must be corrected in the 3500 configuration software when adjusting the gap on-site.
Gap Voltage Calibration: During installation, the field personnel should use a multimeter to measure the preamplifier output terminals (OUT and COM) with the equipment off. Slowly screw the probe in until the gap voltage stabilizes at approximately -10.0 Vdc (the typical operating range is -9V to -11V). At this point, the probe is at the optimal midpoint for linear measurement. Then, tighten the lock nut.
