Technical Specifications

991 Thrust Transmitter is intended primarily for the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal air compressors or small pumps, motors, or fans who prefer to provide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional axial displacement (thrust) signal as the input to their machinery control system. The transmitter is a 2-wire, loop-powered device that accepts input from our 3300 NSv proximity probe and its matching extension cable (available in 5 m and 7 m system length options). 

On-site Installation Precautions

Safety Barrier Must Be Installed: Because this is a -05 intrinsically safe model, a certified intrinsically safe isolation safety barrier (such as a commonly used MTL or P+F barrier) must be connected in series between the control cabinet (safe area) and the transmitter (hazardous area) to limit the electrical energy that may flow into the hazardous area.

Earthing Specifications

The transmitter's coaxial interface housing (connected to the eddy current probe end) and internal main circuitry are insulated from the housing. The cable shield must be securely connected to the instrument-specific intrinsically safe grounding electrode (IS Ground) in the control room, and the entire cable must have only a single point of grounding to prevent ground loop currents that could cause sparks.
