Foxboro CP40B is a Control Processor 40, Style B for Foxboro I/A Series. Style B high-performance control processor for I/A Series systems.
Regulatory, logic, timing and sequential control with FBMs and migration I/O. CP40B uses an AMD 486DX5 at 133 MHz and ECC memory; the earlier CP40 uses an Intel 486DX4 and parity detection.
The fault-tolerant CP40B station comprises two single-width CP40B modules operating in parallel.

Confirm current manufacturer support and installed-system requirements before replacing CP40B.
CP40B is a high-end I/A Series control processor for regulatory, logic, timing and sequential control, data acquisition and alarm handling with connected field I/O.
The manufacturer specifies an AMD 486DX5 processor and error-correcting memory for CP40B, whereas the earlier CP40 uses a different processor and parity-based memory detection. Confirm the station definition before substitution.
A single-width CP40B serves a non-fault-tolerant station. A fault-tolerant station uses two CP40B modules operating in parallel with separate Nodebus and Fieldbus paths.
Confirm the I/A Series Nodebus and Fieldbus topology, connected FBMs and FBCs, and any Migration Integrator I/O. The documented local fieldbus capacity is up to 24 FBMs; extended arrangements require the specified isolators and limits.
The official CP40B sheet describes replacing the processor, updating the System Definition Utility, installing the appropriate software license and software, and loading existing compounds. Treat this as a controlled migration, not a simple module swap.
Check station identity, Nodebus and Fieldbus communication, I/O and alarm operation, and the configured fault-tolerant pair if used. Use the documented diagnostics and the project commissioning procedure.
Provide the full CP40B marking and revision, current processor type, single or fault-tolerant station layout, I/O and migration interfaces, and the required software/license migration plan.
Send the complete model, quantity, destination and nameplate photo. We will verify identification details before confirming availability and lead time.
Technical data is based on manufacturer-owned documentation for CP40B. Final suitability must be checked against the exact installed unit and current official documentation.
