A Tricon system uses three main processor channels. Each channel independently processes its portion of the application and exchanges information through the TriBus. This architecture allows the system to compare results and diagnose differences between channels.
The processor module must therefore be treated as part of the complete configured system. A physically similar processor is not automatically a suitable replacement. Engineers should confirm the installed chassis, processor population, TriStation project, firmware and site replacement procedure before installation.
Model suffixes should never be ignored. The 3008 and 3008N must not be treated as interchangeable solely because their base number is similar. Use the complete part number shown on the installed module, then confirm compatibility against the system documentation or with the responsible system integrator.
